Boy uses PlayStation money to buy smoke alarms for neighbors

A 9-year-old boy is finally enjoying a new PlayStation 4 after he gave up the money he saved up buy smoke detectors for his neighbors instead.

Hector Montoya saved up for about a year to buy a new PS4 gaming system, but after hearing a story on the news about a mother and a child who had died in a house fire without a smoke detector, Montoya decided to donate the $305 he had saved to instead buy smoke alarms for his neighborhood.

“I was going to buy a PlayStation but I decided saving a life was more important because one life lost is too many,” Montoya told NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth.

Montoya and the Grand Prairie Fire Department installed about 100 smoke detectors he had donated into the homes of folks in need.

Instead of having to start saving for a new PS4 all over again, a generous brother and sister from Collin County donated one to him. Ashton and Peyton Harder delivered a new gaming console as well as an extra $150 to help buy more smoke detectors and keep his cause going.

The new friends also launched a GoFundMe page called Hector’s Detectors where people can donate money so that Montoya and he Harders can purchase more detectors for members of their communities.

  1. Howdy! Do you know if they make any plugins to protect against hackers? I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve worked hard on. Any recommendations? dfffdckcgegg
